Update 08/26- We are so excited to finally be moving in the right direction! Our dossier has been approved and we are moving into the next phase of paperwork with the US immigration office. We are hopeful that we might be able to get this set of paperwork processed more quickly than the rest! (For info on how you can help with this step, please email me at email@example.com with FANNI in the subject line. It doesn't cost a dime and only takes a phone call!) By our agency's estimate, we will travel between 13-19 weeks from now, and that's WITHOUT expedited processing. If we can get expedited processing, we could even have her here sometime in November!
She is still NOT being properly treated for her PKU. Unfortunately, her PKU blood levels are even worse than they were in the previous update. We have received a few updated pictures and an updated video. She appears to function fairly well, considering.
We have a plan for getting her on diet quickly after arriving in China, we just have to get there!!! Financially speaking, all we lack is one plane ticket! So we're hoping to raise about $3,000 before November 1st. Thanks for your time, prayers, thoughts, support, and help! Update 03/08- We were so excited to finally receive an update on Fanni's well being today! We received a new photo (so adorable!!!) and a short little update on her height, weight, and daily life. It sounds like she's right on track with the average 6-7 year old. She is attending kindergarten (YAY!) and is "a happy child." She does have some delays but they do not appear to be of catastrophic nature. Praise the Lord for His protection and love for her, and for all of us! We are SO excited about getting this update, as Anna has been asking for it for MONTHS! We are anxiously awaiting our approval letter from immigration so that we can send our dossier to China. We're told that we can expect a fall 2014 travel date, but please join us in praying HARD for a summer date!!!! Much love to you all!!!!
Update 02/03- We are SOOOO excited to say that $10,000 was raised for Fanni at the benefit dinner on Saturday! WOW! She is closer than ever to coming home! Many have asked "what now?" Well, now we have all that we need for fees and only need a couple thousand for travel expenses. We will be working on that over the coming months. As far as a timeline, it's all up to God now! We have to trudge through the paperwork process. Right now we are about halfway there, and are expecting to travel sometime in the fall. Will you join us in praying HARD for a summer travel date, instead? Thank you so much for all you've done!!! They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I can't wait for Fanni to meet her village!!!!
Update 1/13 Wow, it's so surreal to think we are 2/3 of the way to our goal! We have raised about $20,000 through our various fundraisers!
Many have asked about the paperwork process. We're about to send off our I-800A, which goes to US Immigration. Once approved there, we will be ready to send off our dossier to China. In the meantime, Fanni is on hold for us through our agency.
We are busy planning for our fundraiser dinner, to be held on February 1st, at 6pm, at Ringgold UMC. For more information or to reserve your spot, please email Anna at Annaboo728@aol.com, with FANNI in the subject line.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
UPDATE! 12/2 We have completed our home study and the next step is to send off our I800-a application to US Immigration. Once it's approved, we can send our dossier to China. To date, we have raised about $9,000. The I800-a comes with a hefty fee, and the dossier submission will cost $4,000. We have continued selling scarves and wristbands, and Anna is in the beginning stages of planning a benefit dinner. Since December 3rd is National PKU Awareness Day, we challenge you to donate $10 toward Fanni's coming home fund! Fanni has PKU and desperately needs to come how and be placed on the treatment diet. This is necessary for her to have a good quality of life. Thank you so much for helping us fund Fanni home!!!
Update 9/26- To date, we have raised about $5,000 total. We have officially begun our home study and hope to have that finished within about 4 weeks, depending on how quickly we can get the FBI prints back. While working on the home study process, we are also busy collecting documents needed to complete our dossier. We can't submit the dossier without the $4,000 fee that goes with it, so we are still needing to raise about $3,000 before we can submit that paperwork. I (Anna) have days where I feel confident and then other days when I feel like we'll never make it to $30k. I try to keep reminding myself that I'm not in control and God can make this happen. Now that the donations have slowed a bit, it feels like a very long road. Time is of the essence, since every day Fanni is not on a proper PKU diet is a day she continues to have damaging effects. I know that on weak, weary days I am walking on prayers of others, and only that. So thank you for that. It really does mean a lot to us.
We still have a wristband campaign (they are $5 each and say "Bring Fanni Home") and Anna is selling handmade jersey knit scarves. Check us out on Facebook by searching "Fanni's Closet." ****If you have any other ideas for fundraisers, PLEASE feel free to share! We are planning a benefit dinner for early 2014. We'd LOVE to have some more fundraisers between now and then. Thanks so much!
Next goal: Another $4,000 is needed for dossier costs by November. The dossier is the packet of paperwork that will be sent to China.
FIRST GOAL MET! Our first goal is $4,000. Here's the breakdown of where it will go- $2,000 = to the agency. This will allow us to put Fanni on hold while we complete paperwork. $1800-$2000= the estimate of what the home study costs.
